hi friends.

i've decided to move. no promises that i'll update the new one any more than this one, but i think the interface is better and with any luck i'll be more likely to post things.

also, my goal will be to post things i find interesting and things i'm thinking about. maybe life things, maybe not. no promises on anything because i uhhh... have never really gotten in the habit of blogging.

at least so far.

Okay, yeah, wow I haven't posted on this in ages. Quite literally. Well, it's 2007 now.

I just got back from an amazing trains+planes+automobiles trip with Amanda and Matt. The terrible trio, you might say. Even if you don't say, I'll say. It was a great trip. We saw World/Inferno Friendship Society / The Bouncing Souls and then Sticks and Stones / Weston. Jack Terricloth also fronts Sticks and Stones and frankly, he never fails to make me smile. The W/IFS show was one of my favorites ever, including standing on the edge of the pit watching all the fun. I have some great bruises to prove it.

The 19 hour train ride was unbelievable. We did actually play mafia with some of the crazies on the train. I would do it again. Then we hung out in DC with Alex / Greg / David M / Emily B / Varun / Alex's friends. I miss these people.

We caught a bus with Sue the next morning to trip up to NYC, and saw Mike / Emily B v2.0 / Heather / Dan Miller / more Emily B and of course, our venerable host DAS. Caught up with Abe / Michelle / Tony / Grace / Tae as well, and that was nice. Didn't see much of NYC, but that's how trips with me usually go. Had awesome steak at Peter Lugar's, definitely recommend it to any meat-eater headed that way.

I'm going back Feb. 9-11 for the W/IFS show on the 10th. I'm psyched.

We're also in the midst of creating a group dinner for Friday and then I'm helping Ben to project Little Miss Sunshine at Doc. That's going to be awesome, I think. I miss people, a lot.

I hope DAS wasn't too overwhelmed with the horrid state we left his apartment... I miss him so much.

Alright kids, I am actually going to try to clean my own apartment and then head out to see Scout. He's doing well; life is pretty good. I need to get some cash together, but I have a reasonable plan for that. More details to come.

Hi Friends!

Long time no update. Welllllll I have returned from the great adventure abroad. List of cities, you say?

Paris, Avignon -> Apt -> Sault -> Idon'tevenknowwhereonhorseback, Paris (with Amanda from Model UN, awesome!!), Geneva, Interlaken, Zurich, Salzburg, Vienna, Prague (with Amanda from growing up and Jessie from riding, amazing!!), Munich, Berlin, Amsterdam, NYC (with David, Walter, and Courtney from MUN, incredible!!)

Actually, that's kind of cheating because I also stayed in NYC for a night before I left. I was out from June 21 until August 2; that's a long time. I almost didn't make the flight back from NYC either. While typing on a Swiss keyboard at some crazy time in the morning, I must have entered my last name as my first, and vice versa. Haha. Go me. DAS again saved the day by finding the confirmation number. This is why I can't be a consultant... I can't fly!!

It's so good to be home though. I went and saw Scoutman, and he's doing well. Of course, he threw a shoe so he can't be ridden, but otherwise he's healthy and happy. I love being at CMF, they pay so much attention to even small details.

Anyway, I'm back in Chicago now. I have a huge travellog that I wrote while I was abroad... I may type the interesting parts, y'know.

But if you want to hang out, let me know. I'm hangoutable, definitely.

Okay, in trying to update this at least semi-regularly.. I will tell you what I've been doing the past few days! Yes. You know you want to read it.

I've moved! And what a crazy day that was. From the pod being late to missed flights to insane packing efficiency to ridiculously heavy bags ... teamwork actually did save the day. I never would have made it otherwise.

After moving, I crashed for like 3 hours and went to the barn. Holy horsy, Scout was really well behaved despite me riding without gloves. I'm going to miss my buddy!!! He's going to have a great time while I'm gone though. We took off his show shoes already and he's just chilling out. He'll probably be in a field with the babies for 3 weeks. I don't think we'll show again until mid-September, and I'm pretty sure we could just pull him out of the field when I get back and have him in decent shape in a week.

I turned him out after I rode today (since he's not wearing his monster show shoes, no problem) and he just ran around posing for like an hour. It was hilarious.

Oooookkkkkk now it's time to figure out what is wrong with my car.

Wellll....

I haven't been updating this. Right! Don't worry, you haven't missed much.... except

-- taking over the Internet at ChoMUN ... that's what all those computery posts were for. Let me just say, it was awesome, smoooooooches! Seriously. And when the room erupted in screams and laughter, it was worth every awful minute of Friday. He almost killed me that time, but I came out on top

-- making some old friends into amazing friends. Ma & Bo & St & Cl & Ka & Wa & Am & & Al & H & Sa &c

-- My First Passover Seder. seriously. the circumstances were a little strange, mayhaps, but a good time was had by all

-- save the whales, where DAS did, in fact, dance his little heart out

-- seeing Wicked with Elizabeth and Morgan

-- Horrorpops, None More Black, Aquabats, Epoxies (still to come). and I haven't even mentioned Rise Against, Anti-Flag, Toasters, Less than Jake, Flogging Molly, Holy Roman Empire

-- driving down Lake Shore Drive with Matt and Greg, just because we could

-- movies in Crerar... from LOST to Pride & Prejudice, Batman Begins to Adult Swim and JFK

-- parties; with Bonnie E, Caroline N, Grace L, Michelle B

-- buying more alcohol than I'd ever imagined with DAS

-- hanging out at Great America, then shopping the next day, hanging out in 'da shoreland, dancing the night away on weed street

-- the end of college.

I'm planning my trip to Europe. I leave for Paris on June 22nd and return from Amsterdam on July 30, in time for Matthew's wedding. I start at the company on September 11.

So... I'm going to log all of my work on the new FreeBSD machine. I've cut it in case you aren't interested. This is one of the Crerar Gateways, although right now it's pretty snappy, to be honest. We'll see what I can make it do.

Why they shouldn't let me near computersCollapse )

because if the person who got me on this site knew I had a livejournal, they'd probably just drop over dead.

But that shouldn't stop you! This is an exciting project for all you music buffs.

http://www.last.fm/user/redoak84/ is what I'm listening to currently. last.fm keeps stats on what you listen to and creates personalized streams that fit your tastes (without commercials, and! you can skip songs). You can get it anywhere you go. You can even stream what *I'm* listening to and the songs that I absolutely love.

Also, nothing deadly comes with this. You can combine it with musicbrainz.com for supreme tagging and stat-making!

Best part for me? I get to know what you're listening to and that is a lot of fun. Concerts, anyone?
