Okay, so I changed the group permissions on lighttpd.pid to network (use chgrp as su) but when I try to run lighttpd as web I still get permission denied. I think I need to give write access? Okay, I have given group network write access to lighttpd.pid (with chmod as su) and now I can't bind to the port 80 again ... *sigh*

Ahh... I still have altq compiled into my kernel. This could be the problem.

Nope, not the problem. Got emails back from both Nathan and Austin asking if I was running the process as root. Okay, I can do that. That actually fixed the port problem, and then I was getting the access.log problems in /var/log so I just created the two log files by hand and chmod to get the right permissions.

% xemacs /var/log/lighttpd.access.log <-- (save this file)
% chmod 0666 /var/log/lighttpd.access.log

and same for /var/log/lighttpd.error.log

Now it's time for the chomun meeting, but yay!
