So I installed nmap. Now I want lighttpd to broadcast on port 80. Except, it can't assign that port. Not sure why. The command is

% /usr/local/sbin/lighttpd -f /usr/local/etc/lighttpd.conf

and the error is network.c.235 can't bind to port 80 CAn't assign requested address

Hmmm... now I changed something and running as su I get mod_accesslog.c.511 opening access_log failed Permission denied on /var/log/lighttpd.access.log

Note, that file does not currently exist. I'm kind of concerned about running lighttpd as su anyway. I get this huge feeling I should not be, but when I try to run as annie it says "run with SUID bit set? Are you nuts??" ... hmm. Maybe I should run it as a user that is not in wheel?

Created a new account with adduser called web with password = DAS's last name. Now, hopefully this guy can run lighttpd. Recall that

% chsh -s /usr/local/bin/bash

will change the default shell to bash permanently. Maybe I can change this in /etc/adduser.conf as well?? Not sure how that works. I'll probably want to give web colors too... see previous post about .profile settings.
